Exercise 7 Page 465

Plot both points on a coordinate plane. What coordinates are the same? What coordinates are opposite?

x-axis

Practice makes perfect

We are given the coordinates of a point and its image after a reflection. Let's plot them on a coordinate plane!

reflection

We can see that the point M(3,3) and its image M'(3,- 3) are located on opposite sides of the x-axis. Also, their x-coordinates are the same, and their y-coordinates are opposite numbers. With this information we can conclude that the reflection is done over the x-axis.
