Practice makes perfect

When calculating probability, we are comparing the number of favorable outcomes to the number of possible outcomes. To calculate the probability that a randomly selected movie is not action we will use the Probability Formula. P=Favorable Outcomes/Possible Outcomes First, we will find the number of movies Jason has.

Type of Movie
Science Fiction 10
Action 7
Comedy 3
Jason has a total of 10 science fiction, 7 action, and 3 comedy movies. The sum of these values is the number of possible outcomes. 10 + 7 + 3= 20 movies The number of favorable outcomes is the number of science fiction and comedy movies. 10 + 3 = 13movies The number of favorable outcomes is 13. Now we have enough information to calculate P(not action).
P=Favorable Outcomes/Possible Outcomes
P(not action)=13/20
The probability of selecting a not action movie is 1320.
