The two events described in this exercise are rolling a number cube and selecting a letter from the word AMERICA. Neither of these events affects the probability of the other so these are independent events. If two events are independent, then the probability of both occurring is the product of their individual probabilities. P(AandB)=P(A)* P(B) Here, A is rolling a number greater than 1 and B is selecting a consonant. Let's start by calculating the probability of the rolling a number greater than 1. Note that there are 5 such numbers on a number cube. P(A)&=5/6 l← numbers greater than1 ←possible outcomes Let's now find the probability of selecting a consonant. In the word AMERICA, we have 3 consonants and 7 letters in total. P(B)&=3/7 l←consonants ←possible outcomes Finally, we multiply P(A) and P(B).

P(AandB)=P(A)* P(B)
P(AandB)= 5/6* 3/7
P(AandB)=15/42
P(AandB)=5/14
