To solve an equation, we should first gather all of the variable terms on one side and all of the constant terms on the other side using the Properties of Equality. In this case, we should use the Subtraction Property of Inequality and the Division Property of Equality to isolate the variable.

-4n+3=13

LHS-3=RHS-3

-4n= 10

.LHS /(-4).=.RHS /(-4).

n = 10/-4

Put minus sign in front of fraction

n = -10/4

Calculate quotient

n = -2.5

The solution to the equation is n = -2.5. We can check our solution by substituting it into the original equation.

n= -2.5

-4( -2.5)+3 ? = 13

10+3 ? = 13

Add terms

13=13 ✓

Since the left-hand side is equal to the right-hand side, our solution is correct.
