Inequalities can be solved in the same way as equations, by performing inverse operations on both sides until the variable is isolated. Let's use the Addition Property of Inequality to solve the inequality.

n - 1/5 ≤ 3/10

AddIneq

LHS+1/5≤RHS+1/5

n - 1/5 + 1/5 ≤ 3/10 + 1/5

ExpandFrac

a/b=a * 2/b * 2

n - 1/5 + 1/5 ≤ 3/10 + 2/10

AddFrac

Add fractions

n ≤ 5/10

ReduceFrac

a/b=.a /5./.b /5.

n ≤ 1/2

The above tells us that all values of n that are less than or equal to 12 will satisfy the inequality. Below we demonstrate the inequality by graphing the solution set on a number line. Notice that n can equal 12, which we show with a closed circle on the number line.
