We are given an equation and we want to find the value of x which makes it true.

24+x=24

We can recall a certain property of equation to help us solve for x. Recall the Identity Property of Addition.

Adding 0 to any number always results in the number itself. a+0=a

Notice that in our case, we are adding x to a number, 24, and we get the original number back. This means that the value of x must be 0, because of Identity Property of Addition.
