Recall that multiplication is both associative and commutative. This means that we can multiply the numbers in any order and the product will be the same.

Practice makes perfect

We want to multiply three whole numbers. Let's start by taking a look at the given product. 1*1*1When we want to multiply more than two numbers at a time, it is helpful to remember that multiplication is both associative and commutative. This means that we can multiply the numbers in any order and the product will be the same. 1* 1* 1&=(1* 1)* 1 &=1*(1* 1) Since all factors are equal, there is no preferred order in which we would want to multiply the terms. So, for example, we can perform our calculations from left to right. Let's do it!

(1* 1)* 1
1* 1
