Exercise 5 Page 379

1/7

When calculating probability, we are comparing the number of favorable outcomes to the number of possible outcomes. To calculate the probability that a randomly chosen sock is blue we will use the Theoretical Probability Formula. P=Favorable Outcomes/Possible Outcomes The spinner has seven equal-sized sections that are labeled from 1 to 7. This means that there are 7 possible outcomes. Out of these, only one section is labeled 7, which is the number of favorable outcomes. Now we have enough information to calculate P(7).
P=Favorable Outcomes/Possible Outcomes
P(7)=1/7
P(blue sock)=1/7
The probability of spinning a 7 is 17.
