Exercise 4 Page 479

What makes a question a statistical question?

Statistical, see solution.

Let's remember when a question can be called a statistical question.

Statistical Question

A question for which we do not expect to get a single response but rather a range of responses.

In other words, when we ask this type of question, we want to know the distribution or tendency of responses. Now, let's take a look at the given question.

How many books did each of the students in grade 6 read last year?

We would get a variety of answers to the question because there are many students in grade 6 and each of them could have read a different number of books last year. This means that this is a statistical question.
