We want to divide a whole number by a decimal number. The calculations are easier if we multiply the divisor and the dividend by the same power of 10 so that the divisor is a whole number. In this case, we will multiply by 100. 21* 100 &= 2100 0.05* 100 &= 5 This means that 21÷ 0.05 is the same as 2100÷ 5. Now we will find the quotient. We divide, multiply, subtract, and compare as many times as we need.
Since 2100÷ 5=420, we know that 21÷ 0.05=420.
