The correct answer is what Jolleen got, sin 30^(∘) = 0.5. The error in Colleen's calculation lies in that she has set her calculator to use radians instead of degrees. If we calculate sin 30 with the calculator set to radians, we would obtain - 0.9880316241, which is what Colleen got.
