Practice makes perfect
We are given the drawing of a giant triangle made by Lakisha.

The triangle was made using two pattern blocks: one green triangle and one red trapezoid. We want to find the area of the entire shape if the green triangle has an area of 1 square centimeters. Note that the giant triangle can be divide it into 4 identical triangles.

Because the green triangle has an area of 1 square centimeters, the other three identical triangles also has the same area. Then, we can multiply the area of one triangle by 4 to determine the area of the entire shape. 4* 1 cm^2=4 cm^2

We want to find the area of the entire shape if the red trapezoid has an area of 1 square inch. To do so, remember that in Part A we saw that the giant triangle can be divided into four identical triangles.

Note that the trapezoid is formed by 3 identical triangles. Because the area of the trapezoid is 1 inch, the area of each triangle has to be 13 inches. Then, we can find the area of the giant triangle by multiplying the area of one triangle by 4.
