Recall the formula for finding the area of a circle given its radius.

Consider a circle with radius of 6 feet.

Let's find the area of the circle. The area A of a circle with radius r is calculated using the formula below. A=π r^2 From the figure, we know that the radius of the circle is 6ft. We can substitute 6 for r in the formula and then calculate A. We will use 3.14 as an estimate for π.

A=Ï€ r^2
A=( 3.14)( 6^2)
A=(3.14)(36)
A=113.04

The area of the circle is approximately 113.04ft^2.
