Fractions, decimals, and percents are three ways to show parts of a whole. We want to write a fraction as a decimal and as a percent. Let's do these things one at a time.
To write a fraction as a decimal, we divide the numerator by the denominator.
To write a fraction as a percent, we first find an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 100. 3/8=x/100 We multiply 8 by 12.5 to get 100, so we will also multiply 3 by 12.5 to get an equivalent fraction.
We found that 38 and 37.5100 are equivalent fractions. Now we can write the new fraction as a percent by looking at the numerator and adding a percent symbol. 3/8=37.5/100= 37.5 %
