Exercise 25 Page 179

Rewrite a decimal number as a percent.

140 %

Practice makes perfect
Decimals and percents are ways to show parts of a whole. We want to tell which number is greater. 140 %, 0.14 To do this, we will write a decimal as a percent. To write a decimal as a percent, we move the decimal point two places to the right and add the percent symbol.
We found that 0.14 expressed as a percent is 14 %. Since 140 is greater than 14, 140 % is greater than 14 %. This means that 140 % is greater than 0.14.
