Exercise 23 Page 179

Rewrite a decimal number as a percent.

0.12

Practice makes perfect
Decimals and percents are ways to show parts of a whole. We want to tell which number is greater. 0.12, 1.2 % To do this, we will write a decimal as a percent. To write a decimal as a percent, we move the decimal point two places to the right and add the percent symbol.
We found that 0.12 expressed as a percent is 12 %. Since 12 is greater than 1.2, 12 % is greater than 1.2 %. This means that 0.12 is greater than 1.2 %.
