Exercise 20 Page 179

Rewrite a decimal number as a percent.

86 %

Practice makes perfect
Decimals and percents are ways to show parts of a whole. We want to tell which number is greater. 0.086, 86 % To do this, we will write a decimal as a percent. To write a decimal as a percent, we move the decimal point two places to the right and add the percent symbol.
We found that 0.086 expressed as a percent is 8.6 %. Since 86 is greater than 8.6, 86 % is greater than 8.6 %. This means that 86 % is greater than 0.086.
