Exercise 8 Page 177

Rewrite a decimal number as a percent.

0.34

Practice makes perfect

Decimals and percents are ways to show parts of a whole. We want to tell which number is greater. 33 %, 0.34 To do this, we will write a decimal as a percent. To write a decimal as a percent, we move the decimal point two places to the right and add the percent symbol.

We found that 0.34 expressed as a percent is 34 %. Since 34 is greater than 33, 34 % is greater than 33 %. This means that 0.34 is greater than 33 %.
