Recall that a ratio is a comparison of two quantities by division. For example, the ratio of a to b can be written in two different ways. a/b or a: bWe want to write the ratio of frogs to turtles from the following diagram.

Let's count the frogs and the turtles.

2 frogs and 5 turtles

We have 2 frogs and 5 turtles. Therefore, the ratio of frogs to turtles is 2 to 5, or 2 : 5.
