According to the Law of Detachment, if the hypothesis of a true conditional statement is true, then the conclusion is also true. Let's identify the hypothesis p and conclusion q. If a point divides a line segment into two congruent line segments, then the point is a midpoint. Since we know point P divides LH into two congruent line segments, we can by the Law of Detachment claim that point P is a midpoint.
