We can solve the system of linear equations by using a graphing calculator. Before we can do that, we have to write both equations in slope-intercept form.

0.2x+0.4y=4 & (I) - 0.6x+0.6y=- 3 & (II)

0.4y=- 0.2x+4 - 0.6x+0.6y=- 3
y= - 0.2x0.4+ 40.4 - 0.6x+0.6y=- 3
y=- 0.2x0.4+ 40.4 - 0.6x+0.6y=- 3
y=- 0.20.4x+ 40.4 - 0.6x+0.6y=- 3
y=- 0.5x+10 - 0.6x+0.6y=- 3
y=- 0.5x+10 0.6y=0.6x-3
y=- 0.5x+10 y= 0.6x0.6- 30.6

Now, we can enter the equations in the calculator. To do that, we press the button Y= and then write the equations on the two first rows.

Plot the equations by pressing GRAPH.

Woops! To see the point of intersection, we need to increase the window setting. Press the button WINDOW on our graphing calculator.

Next, to find the point of intersection, we press 2nd and TRACE and choose the fifth option in the menu, intersect.

The graph will appear again.Select the first and second curve before guessing where the point of intersection is. Make sure to place the cursor as close as possible to the point of intersection before pressing the ENTER button again.
