The word constant in a non-math context just means that something continues on the same way as it always has and always will. A constant function is one with the same output value for the entirety of the function's domain. The slope of a constant function, because it always produces the same value, will always be 0.

The above graph is an example of a constant function, y=3. No matter what the input value is, the output is constantly 3.
