Exercise 44 Page 550

Is there a line of symmetry?

No

Practice makes perfect

We will try to draw a line through the figure that divides it into two identical parts, a line of symmetry.

A vertical line threw the figure does not make the two pieces identical. We will have to draw the line through a vertex so that there's one vertices on each side.

Now there is one vertex on each side but since the lengths of the triangles are different the pieces are not identical. The conclusion is that it's not possible to fold the figure so that one side matches the other.
