Let's show an example of a translation of PQ to P'Q'. In this example, we will assume that m and n are positive numbers.

To perform a translation from the image to the preimage, P'Q' to PQ, we have to move in the opposite directions. Therefore, the translation will be down n units and left m units. This will undo the first translation.
