Exercise 32 Page 550

Which figures have the same size and shape?

Figures: 5 and 7
(x,y)→ (x+4,y+8)

Practice makes perfect

A translation is a rigid motion that preserves the length and angle measures of a figure. Therefore, what we are looking for are two shapes that have exactly the same shape. There are only two such shapes: 5 and 7.

To describe the composition of transformations we have to find it's horizontal and vertical translation.

Given the vertical and horizontal translations we can describe the composition of transformations as (x,y)→ (x+4,y+8).
