What is the Elimination Method of solving linear equations?
See solution.
The Elimination Method of solving systems of equations uses the Addition and Subtraction Properties of Equality. Since sides of equality are always equal, we can add or subtract left-hand sides and right-hand sides of multiple equations separately. This way we reduce the number of equations in our system. Therefore, we need to manipulate coefficients of variables for some of them to cancel out after addition or subtraction. Usually we eliminate variables until there is only one equation left.
