We are asked if, given two measurements of the same quantity, it is possible that the more precise measurement is not the more accurate. Let's recall two definitions.

  • Precision is the level of detail of a measurement, determined by the smallest unit (or fraction of a unit) that can be reasonably measured.
  • Accuracy is the closeness of a given measurement to the actual measurement. We can find the accuracy of a measurement by finding the absolute value of the difference of the two.
